New Mural and Limited-Edition T-Shirt
Tuesday, 07 May, 2019
On April 18th, artists and Sea Shepherd crewmember Willem Cattersel, aka Waxed, created a unique mural on our Amsterdam store (also home to the Sea Shepherd Tattoo Studio and Sea Shepherd Global headquarters) in support of our shark defense campaigns.
To mark the occasion, we have created a limited-edition of 200 t-shirts featuring Willem’s design, available exclusively in the Amsterdam store (52 Alexander Boersstraat, between the Museum District and Vondel Park).
The t-shirt is €25, available in unisex sizes XS-3XL. Worldwide shipping is available if you can’t make it to the store, just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call +31 649845193. As usual, all profits from merchandise sales go directly to fund our direct-action marine conservation campaigns.
This mural was created as part of our “Artists for Sea Shepherd” movement. Sea Shepherd Global’s Artistic Director Geert Vons explains it here:
"You can talk about scientific reports, global warming and the dangers facing the oceans but when you talk with or from or to the heart, it becomes something different. This is where the strength of art lies, in getting those messages across through painting, imagery and music. We have to keep evolving on approach and try to engage people in a different way to get a little piece of their attention and fire them up about the issues and injustices in the natural world.
This is why artists and musicians have an important role to play. People listen to them because they touch the heart. Art should serve a purpose and have a goal. Our aim is to see Sea Shepherd expand on a truly global level and find more creative outlets in arts and music to support our conservation efforts and create a whole new media."
